Bottom Scrub But No Otters

Weekend of the 30th. Great weather - motored to a cute little beach close to the Carquinez Bridge at low tide. Anchored and drifted into a couple of feet of water at the beach. Got my togs on and gave the hulls a good scrub to get the slime and barnacles off. Then had lunch in the sun on my deckchair, chatter to the locals ashore walking their dogs, breathing in the fresh sea air!

A light breeze (8-10 knots) came up in the middle afternoon, so hoisted sail and tacked and gybed back and forth across the strait having a great time. As the flood tide increased, I took a swing through Southhampton Bay to look for the otters that I've been told by the paddling folk live there in the reeds (see video). This is what Wharrams are all about with their shallow draft - gunkholing around interesting bits of coastline. Didn't see any otters though - next time!

  1. Cool blog, Captain Sullivan! How about a full photo tour of your boat and a brief intro, sort of a "Wharram Tiki for Dummies"?
