Sea Buoy

Took a spin out to the San Francisco Sea Buoy as part of my prep for the Singlehanded Farallones race. The weather was uncharacteristically perfect and coincided with ideal tides - outgoing in the morning and incoming in the afternoon.

Heading out at about 5 knots

The wind was about 5-8 knots on the port beam heading out, so set the genoa flying and hauled it across to port (another technique stolen from Rory McDougal's video posts). This allowed a deep and leisurely reach off in the direction of the Farallones. After nearly being run down by several freighters, Little Cat reached a line adjacent to the Sea Buoy around 10-11 nautical miles out from the GG Bridge and we turned for the reach back. Stopped for lunch under Yellow Bluff. 30 NM this trip.
