Picnic at Snag Island

Middle of June and I thought I'd have a shot at getting further up the Delta on a one-day trip. Got as far as Middle Ground and the westerly was building fast (see video) - decided I couldn't face the long slog home to windward, so gybed across to Snag Island for shelter, lunch and coffee, in that order. AND, finally saw my first otter after two+ years of sailing around the Delta and Carquinez!

The corrected numbers for this trip (GPSAR) were best speed 10 knots, best 500m average 8.3 knots, best nautical mile average 7 knots, best hour run average 6.2 knots. Nautical miles covered on this trip, 28.
