Duh! Forgot to convert from nautical miles to statute miles. So lets try again.... my third anniversary with Little Cat has rolled around. In the last year we added another 848 nautical miles to the logbook for a total of 2,595 nautical miles. If Little Cat was a car on our imaginary journey along Highway 80, we would have reached New York, NY, (not Streetsboro, Ohio) and turned around already for the start of the return trip!
It has been another great year, with standouts like the trip to the Farallones and the first overnighter with my Little Darlings. On the technical side, I discovered that a spinnaker is an essential part of the Tiki sail plan to get things moving downwind, and that a storm jib really helps when there is an excess of wind up- or downwind. Little Cat was also hauled out at the yard for the first time, and the whole experience was much less painful than expected.
This graphic shows some of the sail tracks over the last year. Goals for next year are for some trips further north to Tamales Bay, and south to Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay.

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Bay area from time to time and have been fascinated by Wharram boats for some years now. Have sailed one in Hawai'i with a club there.
I'd love to get a chance to see your boat, possibly even take a sail. The Tiki 21 is of particular interest. Don't see any way to contact you but via comment, so here's a comment. You can mail me at john@eco-living.net.
Thanks, John Schinnerer
I'll be in the Bay area for a week or so weekend after next.
