A day that started out rainy and cold, ended up sunny (and cold). The wind was from the North - relatively rare, and allowing a sail out to San Pablo Bay, and back (at least in theory, right).
A late start, but sill made it to Carquinez Bridge by 1.00 at slack tide, then out into San Pablo Bay. San Pablo is a pleasant sail if the wind is not too strong as it is very shallow (6 ft or less at low tide), so can produce a mean chop. Encountered a wicked tide race rounding the Vallejo/San Pablo breakwater, but then a nice cruise into the Bay at around 5 knots in a light breeze.
Sailed part of the way back as the sun set, but had to motor the last few miles in the dark. By the time I got back my feet were frozen solid (8 degrees C temp). 25 nautical miles in all.
